June 30, 2011. Today the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad shows a headline: “EU wil Europese belasting heffen”. It means EU for the first time openly talks about taxing EU citizens. To me this is an insane idea.
Our Minister of Finance Jan Kees de Jager in his first reaction said:”I don’t support the introduction of European taxes”.
It is the national states that can claim taxes from their citizens.
At the same time the EU wants 5% more from the member states in a time where we all have to cut spending.
These bureaucrats in Brussels have no clue about the day to day reality for people in large parts of Europe.
They have to cut spending as well.
Let the countries do what they can do.
The slogan should be:”Less money for Europe, beat the Brussels bureaucrats”.
What do you think?
